It doesn't matter what she tells you in a casual conversation, in hushed whispers between kisses, while laughing on a battlefield — they're bits and pieces of a life barely lived and a past hardly remembered. Any charm within a crowd seems well-practised, her tongue sharp, her laughs easy enough. Beneath the surface, though, she's motivated by her own self-preservation and a deep, deep desire for revenge. It is extremely rare to come in contact with one and know what they are, and especially so to return alive with the information.Characterized by their black markings and thick fur, they don't stand out much in a crowd if you're not looking. She is a single aetheric load incident away from catastrophe. Thankfully the other aspect of her condition — being a nightkin — keeps the balance mostly in check.

While Malinaea offers services in regular tattooing (both traditional and mechanical), her expertise lay elsewhere.Aetherically-charged tattooing was a method very specific to her clan — Awakening requires intense ritual, which in turn requires the Dreamer to channel more aether than their body can handle, often of a harmful nature. The tattoos acted as a focus, mitigating the effects, and marking the newly Awoken as what they were. This technique is also useful for those who study the arcane arts — often augmenting spellcasting like leylines might — though it's rare for someone to ask about it.
